Train trip......part III

When we woke up we were in the flats of Utah.  The landscape was so different than that of the Sierras.  There were no trees and snow was covering the land.  In this frozen tundra of endless vistas in addition to brush and distant mountains, a few lonely cows were trying to procure their daily meal.
The Green River a major tributary of the Colorado River is frozen at most of its length this time of the year.
After leaving Grand Junction the train follows the Colorado River.  The landscape is slowly changing to that of the Rockies.  It is interesting that the southern slopes in the Canyons are covered with snow while the northern slopes are free as they get exposed to the warmth of the sun rays.  The Colorado River was frozen but the sheets of ice appeared thin and I suspect the water flowed underneath.

We then descended slowly from the high altitude of the Rockies to Denver.  The Mile High City, presented us with a beautiful sight of the vast expanse of its lights.
